Who are we?

At Garuda, creating balance between people is fundamental part of our DNA. We started doing this back in 1982 when Finn Havaleschka (1947-2023), founded Garuda.

During the 1970s personality tests became part of job interviews but these tests were taken from psychology without any changes and moved into the business world. These tests, which screened for certain mental illnesses, were used to assess whether the employee was suitable for the job or not.

Finn Havaleschka found this problematic.
With his social science background, he set out to develop an open conversation tool aimed solely at the business world that would help both employer and applicant learn more about each other – and themselves.
The result was the first version of the Competence Profile.

Conversation tools create balance between people

Since then, many other HR solutions have emerged.
What they have in common is that they are HR and interview tools, not tests.
They do not give right or wrong answers, but assess whether an employee or manager is in harmony with the content of their job.
The idea of creating a harmonious workplace is at the heart of everything we do at Garuda.

With all our tools, we aim to create a balance between people.
In practice, this means that the personality must match the job we do and the colleagues we surround ourselves with.
If not, it can lead to stress, lack of motivation and ultimately termination of service.

We believe that successful leadership is based on empathy, trust and credibility.
And that it is easier to fit the job to the personality than the personality to the job.
That is, if we want to create balance between people.
